EDC X SHIFTPOD X FESTIVATE

Last month I made 11 outfits for Shiftpod who teamed up with Festivate for Electric Daisy Carnival. This year EDC added camping so Shiftpod and Festivate worked together to help create an interactive zone within the campgrounds. See below for photos (shot by by Don Idio) of the really awesome Shiftpod zone and my outfits in action.

Well if you are wondering how this all came about, lets rewind to about 7 months ago when my friend KO tagged me in a post by Stephanie (founder of Festivate & Festival Squad) looking for designers to make outfits. I was told the theme was "Space Pilot", so I drew up a sketch of ideas I had in mind and low and behold, my sketch got chosen! See below for the first sketch/concept.

After I got chosen they asked me if I could design an outfit for males as well. It took a little bit of brainstorming but the male harness actually turned out to be my favorite style. Overall I created (3) different harness styles, several female outfits (a romper style, and a shorts + top style), and a male outfit. Another thing worth noting is that Shiftpod sent me actual fabric they used to make their tents which I incorporated into the outfits! I used this fabric for the waistband of the pants and rompers and trim for some of the tops. However one of my favorite details of this entire outfit was the little pouch I made that mimicked the top of the Shiftpod tent. I also think I nailed the whole "space pilot" theme. What do you think?

This was definitely one of the most challenging things I have done. I learned a lot about the design process, sourcing materials, and that time management is HUGE. I think the next time I make this many outfits I will definitely need a team. This reminds me of one of my favorite quotes, "if you want to go fast go alone, but if you want to go far go together." Overall I'm happy with the final product and it really is amazing to see a concept come to life. See below for more pics from the design process.
